Biography
Shrabani is a renowned textile artist who completed her BFA (2001) and MFA (2003, First Class) from Kala-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. She is the recipient of prestigious honors including the National Scholarship (2003–05), Merit Scholarships (2000 & 2002), the National Academy Award (46th National Exhibition of Art, Lalit Kala Akademi, 2003–04), and the Lalit Kala Academy Prize (2002).
Her solo exhibitions include ‘Land of Dream’ (Sarjan Art Gallery, Vadodara, 2006), ‘Shrabani’s Alternative’ (Akar Prakar, Kolkata, 2008), and ‘Safarnama & Continuing Traditions’ (France & Indian Museum, Kolkata, 2014–15). She has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions in Munich, Berlin, London, and across India.
Shrabani has also been featured in documentaries such as Pop Art in Kolkata (Swiss National Television, 2014), Shrabani’s Alternative (2008) & The Art of Shantiniketan (2019) and has contributed to several publications and seminars as a speaker on contemporary textile art.
