Biography

Sandip Baul, born on 11 January 1976 in Bokaro, Jharkhand, is a contemporary ceramic artist and educator. He earned an MFA in Ceramic Design from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, in 2004 and now serves as a Technical Assistant in the university’s Department of Ceramics and Glass Design.

Over two decades, Sandip has exhibited widely across India and abroad, from early shows at the West Bengal State Academy (2002) and All India Studio Pottery National Exhibition (2003) to major platforms such as the Lalit Kala Akademi’s 61st and 63rd National Exhibitions in New Delhi, *Beneath the Surface* at CIMA Gallery (2013), and *Across the Boundaries* at Zainul Gallery, Bangladesh (2022). Recent highlights include *Rhythms of the Soil* at India Habitat Centre (2023), *Art Konsult* in New Delhi (2024), and group exhibitions in Guwahati, Santiniketan, and Krittika Art Space through 2025. His artistic achievements have been recognized with the NIRMAN B.D. Bangur Endowment Merit Award (2005) and the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Kalanand Grant (2020–21).
